This coat has three deep working pockets, and functional turn backs. The outside of the coat and the turn backs are 100% wool. The inside of the upper half is a cotton lining to detract from some of the weight. All buttons are cast pewter.

These coats are form fitting. I ordered the size based on what my tailor always said, 44. But apparently I am just shy of 45” The first coat was beautiful but tight around the armpits. I asked for advice and they were gracious enough to exchange. The new one is 46 and is stunning. Lots of compliments.

United StatesWell made quality coat
I have some civil war coats and recently joined the SAR color guard. I wanted a coat that would be like the ones my ancestor Daniel Rea made. I ordered this one in size 44 which is just a hair larger than my european made suit jackets. It was very tight under the armpits and tight in the top part of the chest. I used to work out regularly so this may be the cause. Otherwise, it was snug in the arms as the original coats were. I contacted them about it and have arranged to swap for a size 46. But the look, feel, and presentation of this coat is something to be admired.

United StatesJust one minor detail from perfection!
Our entire Fife & Drum Corps have recently converted to the regimental style look ,and we couldnt be happier. Samson Historical has done it again!! The look , fit and comfort of the garment is outstanding. The one, small, complaint /suggestion that we have is that the coat does not come with an hook and eye closure at the top and fourth button. This proves helpful when marching during windy conditions so the coat does not blow open.(particularly problematic for drummers) Other than that, an exceptional product at a very reasonable price point.
