Knee breeches were a common pant in the 18th century, and are appropriate for French and Indian War through the American Revolution. These are made of a very nice medium weight 80/20 linen cotton with matching covered buttons and fit true to waist size in inches.
Additional sizing information:
The size of the breeches is in inches with the gusset completely closed. To find your size, measure around your waist where the breeches will sit. Then enter that number below to verify your size.
Breeches are excellent quality. Ordered my normal waist size and they fit very well. Arrived quickly. The linen is a great looking material.
Phenomenal Quality - These breeches are exactly as shown in the pictures; they're sturdy, and the buttons are sewn on well. With a 30" waist, I ordered a size #32, and it fits nicely. If wearing the breeches with a shirt, the shirt will be tucked in and account for an inch of bulk in the waist. That being said, while the waist was a little large, it was no issue, as the back of the breeches could also be tied and tightened for up to 2 inches. The legs and length were perfect, and the legs each had five buttons on the side which could be undone (if the need ever arose to put breeches on AFTER shoes, or you have really big calves). The customer service at Samson is phenomenal as well; I received a partially ripped size #32 tag that just barely read "100% cotton" at the bottom. I emailed the company at 9 pm ET about this, and within minutes I received a phone call in which a knowledgeable representative explained that it was a simple error on their end. When sewing on the size tags, the wrong tag was accidentally used and was attempted to be cut off; so no issue there. He explained that linen tends to be almost glossier and a more rugged weave than cotton. This customer service is an A+. The product is an A+ as well. Linen (not cotton), is historically accurate for almost any portrayal of the Revolutionary War, as it was cheaper at the time and more rugged. If you're like me, and having trouble deciding whether to buy this or the cotton breeches, spend the extra $20 for a higher quality and more historical pair.
Great fit, however order your true size
