Queen Charlotte, the wife of the English King George III (1738-1820), was directly descended from Margarita de Castro y Sousa, a black branch of the Portuguese Royal House.  It should be noted too that by the time Sir Ramsay was commissioned to do his first portrait of the Queen, he was already, by marriage, uncle to Dido Elizabeth Belle, the black grandniece of Lord Mansfield.

Made from the highest quality leather, the shoes are each handmade and lined with fine calfskin. The shoes are standard width and feature a hard, thick leather sole, perfect for use in camp or inside a fine home. The lachets should be secured with a buckle or a simple ribbon. Buckles are sold separately and can be found here.

      Beautiful shoes!

These shoes are so beautiful an very comfortable. If they had them in a black leather, I would have gotten those as well. The fit was perfect!

      Gorgeous, red, and comfortable

Like the title says, I’m very happy with these shoes, they’re comfortable, and the red is a nice deep rich bright red.

      Charlottes Leather shoes runs small

Because these shoes are made in a traditional fashion, I found I had to order 1 size larger. It is complicated installing the buckles for first timers, so give yourself plenty of time. I found these shoes to be much more comfortable once the buckles were in place.
