I'm really pleased with both the product and the service! I've always wanted an old style sword of my own, so this was a bit of a dream come true for me. Since France supplied America with these swords along with the Charleville muskets, it goes perfect with my late rev war Continental soldier impression too! Alright, enough geeking out. Upon ordering this 1767 French grenadier sword I received a call the next day from Samson letting me know that I ordered the last one in stock (at the time) and that the blade had a little bit of surface rust on it. (A+ for honesty!) Since they told me it shouldn't harm the integrity of the blade and that it would be easy to clean, I told them to ship it to me anyway. Upon receiving the sword a few days later, I was really impressed how heavy duty and sturdy it felt. The surface rust on the blade cleaned off really easy with a bit of oil and FINE steel wool, and it looks very nice now. The brass hilt is well formed, although when you hold it up to your face you can see a few tiny imperfections. But in my opinion this just gives the sword its own personality and more of an antique feel. (Believe me, you'd have to pay more than double to get a flawless reproduction, and you'd probably just ding it up against your other gear anyway.) The leather scabbard was excellent. Just keep in mind that the brass fastener on mine was the round button style rather than the elongated one shown in the picture. It's fine with me though, because it makes it easier to take on and off my shoulder carriage anyway! A+ service, A+ product!
